Inadequate pilot training and a lack of communication were pointed out as the causes of Merpati Nusantara Airline’s crash in Kaimana waters, West Papua, last year, the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) said in Jakarta on Monday.

FAA Gives Advance Notice of TFRs for G8, NATO Summits

The United States will host the NATO and G8 summits in two weeks, and two recently issued FAA flight advisories inform pilots that TFRs will be in place in those designated ‘National Defense Airspace’ areas. The G-8 Summit will be held at Camp David, Thurmont, Maryland, May 18-19, and the 25th NATO Summit will occur in Chicago May 19-21.

‘FIFI’ dustup leaves more questions

Air Racers 3D soars into select IMAX theaters

Air Racers 3D, the first IMAX movie devoted to the Reno Air Races,  is rolling out across the country at select IMAX theaters, including the Naval Aviation Museum (Pensacola, Florida), Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center (Hutchinson, Kansas), National Infantry Museum (Columbus, Georgia) and U.S. Space & Rocket Centre (Huntsville, Alabama).
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s Lockheed IMAX Theatre in Washington, DC, and the U.S. Air Force Museum (Dayton, Ohio) will launch Air Racers 3D on May 25, followed by the Houston Museum of Natural Science (Houston, Texas), COSI The center of Science & Industry (Columbus, Ohio), New Mexico Museum of Space History (Alamogordo, New Mexico) and Tycho Brahe Planetarium in Copenhagen (Denmark). href="http://www.generalaviationnews.com/2012/04/23/air-racers-3d-soars-into-select-imax-theaters/">Continue Reading »

Lawmakers seek estimate of what taxpayers spent on LightSquared testing

Ohio’s Grimes Field target for largest gathering of B-25s since WWII

Flying in from around the U.S., about two dozen B-25 Mitchell bombers will converge on Urbana, Ohio’s municipal airport, Grimes Field, beginning Saturday, April 14.
